OUR ADOPTION PROCESS

At Treasured Paws HR, we believe that adopting a hamster should be a joyful experience for both you and your new furry friend. That's why we've created a standardised adoption process that ensures a good match and makes the whole process easy and stress-free. From filling out the application to bringing your new hamster home, we're here to guide you every step of the way.

You complete our adoption form - this asks environmental and care questions to let us understand where you are currently at on your care journey and helps us match you with the right hamster.

We will review your form and discuss any areas that need tweaking based on current care standards or for the specific hamster you are looking to adopt. We will also ask for a photo of your enclosure at this stage to verify its size.

You will be asked to review our ‘Adoption Essentials’ page to find out what must be included for the adoption to go ahead. Once we agree on the end goal for your enclosure and any special requests that may be needed like a secure free roam area we can go ahead and reserve your chosen hamster.

We can reserve your chosen hamster for up to two weeks while you work on getting everything ready for their arrival. We will remain in close contact during this time with photos and updates and for you to ask any questions like where to get items or check if things are safe.

Once you feel you’re ready we will need a final set-up photo so we can talk through where each item on our ‘Adoption Essentials’ is covered in the enclosure. We may have already discussed potential adoption days at this stage but now is the time we will confirm an adoption day and time.

If distance permits your hamster will be delivered to you on adoption day. If the hamster is handleable we will ask you to help us move them to the enclosure so you can gain some confidence handling them. We will talk through the welcome pack and feeding schedule. Finally you will complete our ownership transfer form and pay the adoption fee at which point your adoption is complete.
